How it works

A practitioner can read hundreds of patents. A model can score millions. We train one with the other.

  1. 1Read

People who know patents label them

Hundreds of calls, each made against your specific question

  2. 2Train

    Those judgments teach a model

The calls become training data for a model built for that one question

  3. 3Answer

The model reads millions, and we check its work

It scores the full corpus, and nothing it surfaces reaches you unreviewed

ClaimScore, our claim-breadth model, puts this to work: very broad claims face 3.6× the odds of an infringement finding that very narrow ones do.

Ten years with the client who came with us

Uber has worked with us since the first day: at Legal Analytics, through the Aon years, and now at Novelty Hill IP

Our history
  1. 2016

    Our first anchor client

Uber signs on with Legal Analytics, David’s company, to prepare for its IPO

  2. 2016–24

    Through the Aon years

Aon acquires Legal Analytics, and the work deepens into prosecution and threat analytics

  3. 2024

    They came with us

Aon leaves IP, David and Jack start Novelty Hill IP, and Uber’s IP team replies the same day

  4. 2026

    New questions, new tools

More clients, harder questions, and a tool suite grown out of the work

The team

Founded by two practitioners. Experts in law and in code.

David and Jack started the firm and still run it, and the team has grown around them since. You’re not hiring a tool or a report. You’re hiring people who pair the technology with their own judgment to tell you the truth, even when it’s inconvenient.

The story behind the firm
David Andrews and Jack Bradley, laughing, as one pins a flower to the other’s lapel
  • David Andrews

An engineer and a lawyer, at the same time

A decade writing code at Microsoft, on the Windows kernel and Age of Empires. Then law school (summa cum laude), a judicial clerkship, high-stakes patent litigation, and years of patent practice at Microsoft.

  • Jack Bradley

A patent strategist with decades of practice

Years at Microsoft and beyond, building portfolios, working deals, and reading claims faster than anyone we know. Jack knows exactly what a good answer to a patent question looks like, which is why the models learn from him.
